How to Configure the Norton Internet Security Personal Firewall to Allow Web Pages to Display (part 3)

Step 5: With the left mouse button, click on the 'Programs' tab.

Norton Internet Security: Firewall tabProgramsCloseOK

Step 6: With the left mouse button, click on 'Microsoft Generic Host Process for Win32 Services' to highlight it, below the Program column.

Step 7: With the left mouse button, click on the down arrow to the right of 'Microsoft Generic Host Process for Win32 Services' next to 'Blocked All' and select 'Permit All', below the Internet Access column.

Repeat step 7 for 'Microsoft Internet Explorer' or the web browser you are using.

Note: While you are in this section, it would be wise to repeat step 7 for all of the programs and services you are familiar with, such as the Microsoft Printer Spooler Service, which firewalls tend to block sooner or later, causing major problems with installing a printer. The items you set to 'Permit All' will usually not be blocked later by the firewall. If you are unsure what an item is or does, perform a Google search on it by typing it's name in the search box exactly as it appears in the list. Of course you can use other search engines too.

Step 8: When you are finished configuring the programs and services, then with the left mouse button, click on the 'OK' button.
