Did you know? Windows reserves 3% of hard disk space for
the Temporary Internet Files Cache.
If you have a large hard drive, a huge amount of hard disk space
will be reserved for Temporary Internet Files Cache. For
instance, on a 250 GB hard drive, 7.5 GB (7,680 MB) of disk
space is reserved. That's a ridiculous amount of space for Internet
files! But remember, do not reduce the
reserved disk space to zero, because Windows
needs some disk space to store web pages and images on your computer
for faster access, when
browsing the Internet.
Follow the steps below to reduce the amount of space reserved by
the Temporary Internet Files Cache.

How to Reduce
the Size of the Temporary Internet Files Cache
By default, Windows reserves 3% of disk space for the Temporary
Internet Files Cache. At first glance, that doesn't look like
much, but on a 40 GB hard drive, that's 1,200 MB (1
GB = 1,024 MB)! On a 60 GB hard drive, that's 1,800 MB!
100 MB is more space than you would probably ever use.
