About the EasyLI Done!™ Series Tutorials

All EasyLI Done!™ Series Tutorials are designed to accomplish specific tasks on a step-by-step basis!
From connecting two computers together to share files using a crossover cable to setting up a secured wireless network connection, these online tutorials are extremely easy to follow. Although all tutorials were put together with the novice user (beginner) in mind, advanced users will find a few tricks to put to use also, such as 'How to Force Windows to Shutdown' when it just won't shutdown normally.
Before downloading or using any content or software on this site, please read the End User License Agreement (EULA).

Did you know? Almost all computers that were affected by the Blaster Worm virus would have been protected from it, if the computer had all available critical updates installed.

The applicable critical updates were available months before the Blaster Worm virus appeared. Critical updates should always be installed. The easiest and best method of achieving this is to ensure Automatic Updates is turned on.

Follow the steps below to automatically download and install critical updates for your computer.

How to Automatically Download and Install Critical Updates in Microsoft® Windows® XP

Note: In order to perform these steps, you must be logged into an Administrator account on your Windows® XP computer.

Here's how to automatically download and install critical updates in Microsoft® Windows® XP:

Step 1: With the left mouse button, click on the 'Start' button.

Step 2: With the right mouse button, click on 'My Computer'.

Step 3: With the left mouse button, click on 'Properties'.

Step 4: With the left mouse button, click on the 'Automatic Updates' tab.

Step 5: With the left mouse button, put a check in the box next to 'Keep my computer up to date...', by clicking on the box.

Step 6: With the left mouse button, select the setting 'Automatically download the updates, and install them on the schedule that I specify', by clicking on the circle (A green dot will appear in the circle, indicating it has been selected.).

Step 7: With the left mouse button, select 'Every Day' from the dropdown menu, by clicking on the Dropdown arrow: Displays a list of items to choose from (dropdown arrow).
Step 8: With the left mouse button, select a time from the dropdown menu (a time when your computer is normally running), by clicking on the Dropdown arrow: Displays a list of items to choose from (dropdown arrow).

Step 9: With the left mouse button, click on the 'OK' button.

Windows® will now automatically download and install the Critical Updates on your computer whenever they become available. After the updates have been installed, you might be prompted to save any files you have open and restart your computer.

Step 10. (Optional) You should periodically visit the Windows® Update site at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and Scan for updates for Windows® XP, and Drivers, which are not included in the Critical Updates.
