About the EasyLI Done!™ Series Tutorials

All EasyLI Done!™ Series Tutorials are designed to accomplish specific tasks on a step-by-step basis!
From connecting two computers together to share files using a crossover cable to setting up a secured wireless network connection, these online tutorials are extremely easy to follow. Although all tutorials were put together with the novice user (beginner) in mind, advanced users will find a few tricks to put to use also, such as 'How to Force Windows to Shutdown' when it just won't shutdown normally.
Before downloading or using any content or software on this site, please read the End User License Agreement (EULA).

Connect your computers together to backup or share your files between them, using a crossover cable.
If you have a router, connect all your computers to the router and share internet connections, as well as file sharing!
It's easy, it's fast, and best of all, it's now free!

Did you know? Most wireless routers (access points) come out of the box with security disabled, allowing your computer to be attacked by hackers, viruses, spyware and adware, as soon as you connect it to your computer or network and turn it on. Anyone in range of your unsecured wireless network can not only use it to access the Internet, but can also use your unsecured wireless connection to access and download files to and from your computer!

The first thing you should do is turn on the router's firewall. Then setup WPA encryption on the router (WPA is much better than WEP). Any new or recently released router will have WPA capabilities, and WPA should definitely be used, because it is the best wireless security currently available.

If you are interested in finding out who is connected (or attempting to connect) to your wireless network and use your wireless connection to access the Internet or your files, then Trend Micro PC-cillin™ Internet Security 2006 is the easiest, and only security package I have encountered that includes such a feature. If unauthorized users have connected to your network, you can disconnect them and permanently deny them further access to your network, by using the new 'Wi-Fi Intrusion Detection' feature in Trend Micro PC-cillin™ Internet Security 2006.

Follow the steps below to use Trend Micro PC-cillin™ Internet Security 2006 to detect users connected to your wireless network.

How to Use Trend Micro PC-cillin™ Internet Security 2006 to Detect Users Connected to Your Wireless Network

Unsecured wireless networks are a hackers paradise. Secure your wireless network as best you can, using router encryption and intrusion detection software to their fullest potential.

Here's how to use Trend Micro PC-cillin™ Internet Security 2006 to detect users connected to your wireless network:

Step 1: With the left mouse button, double-click on the 'Trend Micro PC-cillin™ Internet Security 2006' icon Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2006 icon in the System Tray area.

Step 2: With the left mouse button, click on 'Network Security'.
Step 3: With the left mouse button, click on 'Wi-Fi Intrusion Detection'.
Step 4: With the left mouse button, click on the 'Detect Now' button.
Note: Put a check in the box next to 'Automatically detect computers connected to the network', if you want to have the program automatically alert you when someone is attempting to connect (or has connected) to your wireless network. You can also set time-intervals from 5 - 60 minutes for the automatic alerts.
Step 5: With the left mouse button, click on a computer listed below 'Status', to 'Trust' or 'Do Not Trust' it, or to view the computer's connection 'Properties'.
Note: The MAC Addresses used throughout the EasyLI Done! Series Tutorials are not real MAC Address; they are only used as examples.
Step 6: With the left mouse button, click on 'Properties'. To view a computer's connection properties.
Step 9: With the left mouse button, click on 'Close', to close the computer's connection properties window.
Note: If you click on 'Trust' or 'Do Not Trust', the computer will be added to the appropriate Exceptions List, therefore you do not need to click on the 'Add as an Exception' button.
Step 10: To block a computer from connecting to your network, click on 'Do Not Trust', with the left mouse button.
Step 11: To allow a computer to connect to your network, click on 'Trust', with the left mouse button.
Note: If you click on 'Trust' or 'Do Not Trust', the computer will be added to the appropriate Exceptions List. You will need to check the Exceptions List, to make sure the added computer is not set to 'Deny' (if it is, change it to 'Allow').

Step 12: With the left mouse button, click on the 'Close' button (located at the bottom right of the screen).

Note: Clicking on 'Do Not Trust' will block the computer and list it as 'Unknown'.
Step 13: With the left mouse button, click on the 'Apply' button.
Step 14: With the left mouse button, click on the 'Close' button Close, to close the 'Trend Micro PC-cillin™ Internet Security 2006' window.
Special Note: Out of all of the Security and Firewall packages I have tested, only Trend Micro PC-cillin™ Internet Security 2006 offers this very valuable added protection for Wi-Fi networks.
