About the EasyLI Done!™ Series Tutorials

All EasyLI Done!™ Series Tutorials are designed to accomplish specific tasks on a step-by-step basis!
From connecting two computers together to share files using a crossover cable to setting up a secured wireless network connection, these online tutorials are extremely easy to follow. Although all tutorials were put together with the novice user (beginner) in mind, advanced users will find a few tricks to put to use also, such as 'How to Force Windows to Shutdown' when it just won't shutdown normally.
Before downloading or using any content or software on this site, please read the End User License Agreement (EULA).

Connect your computers together to backup or share your files between them, using a crossover cable.
If you have a router, connect all your computers to the router and share internet connections, as well as file sharing!
It's easy, it's fast, and best of all, it's now free!

Did you know? If you access the Internet without having a firewall turned on, your computer could be attacked by hackers, viruses, spyware and adware.

You should at least have a software-based firewall installed on your computers and turned on, before making the connection to the Internet. The best Internet protection you can get for computers is a hardware-based firewall, also known as a router. Routers hide your computers from the Internet by implementing network address translation (NAT).

Occassionally, you will need to turn off the firewall to find out if it is the cause of problems with your network or internet access. Be sure to turn the firewall back on as soon as the problem is solved. Do not stay connected to the Internet for long periods of time while the firewall is off! If you discover the firewall is blocking access to your network resources or the Internet, then you will need to properly configure the firewall to allow access to your resources. The Windows Firewall does not provide an easy method for directly configuring it for network access. You will need to run the Network Setup Wizard and hope that all goes well. You may need to repeatedly run the Network Setup Wizard, to get the Windows Firewall to allow access to your network resources (shared folders/files and Internet connection). If all attempts fail using the Network Setup Wizard, then turn off the Windows Firewall, access any of the shared folders on the other computers, and while connected to the other computers turn on the Windows Firewall. It seems that the Windows Firewall is intended for use on only one computer that is not connected to any other computers, because on a stand-alone computer the Windows Firewall provides excellent protection, but on multiple computers on a network it causes many problems.

If you have two or more computers–and intend to share resources between them by networking them together, you should consider acquiring a more professional firewall solution.

Follow the steps below to turn off the Windows Firewall.
