EasyLI Done! Series Tutorials
All EasyLI Done! Series Tutorials are designed to accomplish
specific tasks on a step-by-step basis!
From connecting
two computers together to share files using a crossover cable
to setting up a secured
wireless network connection, these online tutorials are extremely
easy to follow. Although all tutorials were put together with the
novice user (beginner) in mind, advanced users will find a few tricks
to put to use also, such as 'How
to Force Windows to Shutdown' when it just won't shutdown normally.

Did you know? Windows reserves 10% of hard disk space for
the Recycle Bin.
If you have a large hard drive, a considerable amount of hard disk
space will be reserved. For instance, on a 250 GB hard drive, 25
GB (25,600 MB) of disk space is reserved. That's a massive
amount of space that can be used more efficiently for your programs
and data storage needs. Consider this: A music CD consists of approximately
700 MB, so for the reserved 25,600 MB, you could store about 36
Music CDs. But remember, do not reduce
the reserved disk space to zero, because Windows
needs some space to restore files you accidentally delete.
Follow the steps below to reduce the amount of space reserved by
the Recycle Bin.

How to Reduce
the Amount of Space Reserved by Recycle Bin
By default, Windows reserves 10% of disk space for the
Recycle Bin. On a 40 GB hard drive, that's 4,096
MB (1 GB = 1,024 MB)! On a 60 GB hard drive, that's 6,144
MB!
1,024 MB is sufficient space for the Recycle Bin.
Here's how to reduce the amount of space reserved by Recycle
Bin:
|
|
Step 1: Locate the Recycle Bin on your desktop (the
location varies on most computers).
|
|
Step 2: With the right mouse
button, click on the 'Recycle Bin'.
|
|
Step 3: With the left mouse button, click on 'Properties'.
|
|
Step 4: With the left mouse button, click on the
(slider) and continue holding down the left mouse button.
|
|
Step 5: Drag the slider to the left, to decrease the amount
of space reserved by the Recycle Bin.
|
|
Step 6: With the left mouse button, click on the 'OK'
button.
You have now reclaimed some of the space previously reserved by
the Recycle Bin!
