How
to Turn Off System Restore
Some procedures require that you turn System Restore off
before continuing. For example, when installing the Windows Update
patch that protects your computer from the Blaster Worm virus,
you are instructed to turn off System Restore before installing
the patch or it won't work correctly. However, turning off System
Restore and then turning it back on and creating a new Restore Point
has a beneficial side-effect - it erases all previous Restore
Points - effectively cleaning up your disk space!
Here's how to turn off System Restore:

Step 1: With the left mouse button, click on the 'Start'
button.
Step 2: With the right mouse
button, click on 'My Computer'.
Step 3: With the left mouse button, click on 'Properties'.
Step 4: With the left mouse button, click on the 'System
Restore' tab (top left tab).
Step 5: With the left mouse button, click on the checkbox
next to 'Turn off System Restore on all drives' to place
a checkmark in the box.
Step 6: With the left mouse button, click on the 'OK'
button.
The 'System Restore' message box below appears.
Step 7: With the left mouse button, click on the 'Yes'
button.
System Restore is now turned off and all Restore Points
have been deleted.
